Understand the scope and prevalence of disability in the US (20%).
Child abuse and domestic violence issues in this population
Impact of disability on family systems
Cross cultural reference of able vs disabled
Special considerations and issues with disabled persons (focusing on physical and sensory impairment and severe chronic illness)
Overview of evidence based therapies for specific issues

*Beginning in next few years, competency in disability will be required by the CACREP, on the NCE and maybe the exam for LPCC licensure as well. Starting shortly, to be accredited, a program with CACREP approval will require all students to take a full course in disability.
